VINNIE’S BAGS, LOST LOVE AND E.

Written by Jesper Richardy on March 22nd, 2012 | Category: I Feel Strongly About...

When Jesper started out, Time’s Up was situated in the infamous zip code 2200. Everything happened gradually, on gefühl, and the love for old treasures were the foundation and motor for building on Time’s Up.

One ordinary day, it may even have been a rainy day, Ricardi received a phone call from a guy whose friend was a regular customer. The guy had heard of Jesper’s interest in vintage clothing and as his  sister had died a designer affeccionado, he thought Jesper should have a look at her apartment. Vinnie turned out to be special.

Her story was revealed day by day as Jesper came to search for treasures. On the first day Vinnie’s brother told the story of a woman who owned three bars and appreciated expensive clothes and that was pretty much it. Jesper snooked around the apartment, it was overwhelmingly decadent. The curtains were fringed, the sofa table was a piece of heavy pink marble, it was all very expensive, for sure. Not the same as classy, though, we all know that.

Anyway, on the 2nd day, as the two men had led down their guarde a bit more, a rather unusual story saw the day of light. So, in the late 70s Vinnie bought the old school homo bar on Frederiksberg named Intime. It went well and Vinnie ruled as a bar queen. So much that she somehow became the very first person to introduce ecstasy in Denmark. Vinnie’s brother confided to Ricardi that he had found loads of bills from Birger Christensen which easily reached 600.000 Danish Kroner. Real estate was not Vinnie’s game, of cause, thus designer goods became her thing. Uhm, 3rd day of Jesper’s visit added even further to the life of Vinnie: Her beloved son turned out to be gay and took a boyfriend 20 years older than himself. This was in the 80s when AIDS basically took away a whole generation. AIDS also took Vinnie’s son and this was of cause the most tragical trauma she ever lived to see. In some strange manner Vinnie got through her sorrow by becoming the girlfriend of her lost son’s boyfriend. Do you still follow? It is an odd circle, even so it’s the truth.

Jesper kickstarted the foundation for a very valuable and seldom stock when he discovered the saga of Vinnie. He stuffed his old van with bags and clothing 3 times. Inside every bag, in the little pocket, he made a discovery. Every bag contained 2 toothpicks, 2 condoms and 2 E pills! Vinnie was some Dame.

Jesper still have some of her things in the shop and if you go for a beer in the fine bar, Intime, you will find pictures of Vinnie on the walls. She loved to dress up in color blocked suits.
We find the story enchanting and historical to the bone.

Check out the Vinnie style.
